About the farm

Los Nogales is family owned business weaving through 3 generations. Originally owned by Jose Antonio Sr (grandfather), it was passed to Jose, and more recently to Jose's son, the 3rd Jose and current producer.

As a child, Jose dreamed of having his own farm, with a thirst to learn every detail involved in taking care of a coffee estate, not only financially but also emotionally.

Los Nogales is situated in Apaneca, and part of the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range – one of the most prestigious locations in El Salvador for growing coffee.

One of the first farms in the region to introduce specialty coffee into the plantation, since its early development, Los Nogales has been very committed to the quality process.

Year to year Los Nogales invest significantly in social and environmental activities and programs, encouraging surrounding communities to act as strong pillars for the organisation. These communities make up the majority of the farm's yearly workforce. With its committment to maintaining happy employees by providing good living conditions, health care benefits and education, Los Nogales sees the benefits returned in anvaluable focused dedication and passion from their workers.

The overall quality of picking at the farm is stand out, gathering deep blood red and uniform coloured beans. Considering the volumes they are doing in total it is pretty amazing!

Zest are very lucky to have sourced such a unique lot.
