Flavours of Australia: Australian Coffee Reaches New Heights

As we wrap up our Flavours of Australia events across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Adelaide, we look back on an incredible journey of discovery, taste, and innovation in Australian coffee. These events have not only showcased the exceptional quality we can expect from regions like Queensland and Northern NSW but have also highlighted the pioneering research and dedication behind every cup.

A lasting impression

We are incredibly grateful to all those who attended our events. Your passion for coffee and your eagerness to learn about and taste the distinct flavours of Australian-grown coffee have been truly inspiring. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing astonishment at the quality and flavour profiles that our local coffees can achieve.

Addressing the challenges OF Australian Coffee

As we delved into during our workshops, growing coffee in Australia presents its unique set of challenges, from adjusting to our distinctive climate and landscape to identifying which varietals thrive in our environment. The high cost of labour further complicates the endeavour, making the pursuit of quality Australian-grown coffee both a passion and a challenge. Despite these hurdles, we have come leaps and bounds considering the industry was non-existent merely a decade ago, and we at Zest Coffee are proud to be at the forefront of championing Australian coffee.

Thanking our partners

A heartfelt thank you goes to our host-partners, Hideout Specialty Coffee in Brisbane and Leisurely Coffee in Adelaide, for their invaluable support in making these events possible. Their hospitality and commitment to excellence provided the perfect backdrop for our coffee tastings and discussions.

Special recognition is also due to Ben Bicknell, who joined us at the Melbourne event. His participation and insights into the research conducted with Southern Cross University were invaluable. And of course, Parth Patel and his team at Southern Cross University, for their invaluable work and efforts in their partnership with World Coffee Research and their undertaking in the International Multi Location Variety Trial (IMLVT).
