This coffee comes from the well known Halo Beriti washing station, whose coffee we have shared many times in the past. Halo Beriti was established in 2014 and serves 750 smallholder producers who bring their cherries here for processing.
What makes this coffee a little more special is it is a ‘special prep’ coffee. In Ethiopia, this refers to premium coffee collected from a limited number of smallholder producers in the region. As a result of this, 90% of the cherries are perfectly ripe, and is processed and stored separately from all the other lots moving through the washing station. Another key point is that ‘special prep’ lots are collected from a day lot (picked in one day).
