Producer Info

This coffee comes from the Chelbessa Washing Station in Yirgacheffe. This washing station recieves coffee from nearly 500 farmers in the surrounding regions. The farms in this region are situated between 1900 and 2400 MASL.

As with typical Ethiopian coffees, the coffee is grown on very small plots of land by farmers who also grow other crops. These farmers will then deliver the cherries to Chelbessa Washing Station where the coffee is sorted, weighed and paid for.

Yirgacheffe as a region has become famous for coffees that taste like blueberries. With this coffee, similar fruity and floral characteristics shine through in the final cup. In fact, we use this coffee currently in our African Mailman blend which has big notes of blueberries.

Finally, this coffee is a natural processed coffee. The cherries are sorted for ripeness and quality before being rinsed clean of dirt. The cherries are then spread on raised drying beds, constantly rotated throughout the course of drying. Drying can take an average of 8-25 days, depending on the weather.
